Agreement inked between UTAR and CourseNetworking

UTAR and CourseNetworking Asia Pacific officially inked a collaboration agreement on 18 November 2019 at Sungai Long Campus.

The signatories were UTAR President Ir Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat and CourseNetworking Asia Pacific Director Yong Mien Dee. It was witnessed by UTAR Vice President for Internationalisation and Academic Development Ir Prof Dr Yow Ho Kwang and CourseNetworking Chief Executive Officer Dr Ali Jafari.

Also present at the event were Software Development & Multimedia Centre Director Teoh Boon Chiat, Software Development & Multimedia Services Centre Head of Multimedia Development Unit Tiong Chiong Hieng, Centre for Extension Education Director Lim Guat Yen, Division of Community and International Networking Director Assoc Prof Dr Lai Soon Onn and CourseNetworking Asia Pacific Client Service Manager K. Savitha.

The MoU aimed to initiate joint projects involving collaborative research and to share expertise and joint development of research especially in the area of development of new university culture for all students to develop a lifelong ePortfolio (CN Portfolio) to assist them in employment and assist UTAR in higher graduation employment ranking.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Ewe said, “UTAR had adopted the system of Integrated Cumulative Grade Point Average (iCGPA). iCGPA is the record of attributes of students’ soft skills development such as cognitive skills development, leadership skills, communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, social skills and critical thinking skills. With this collaboration, students can now create their own ePortfolio and upload all their resources to the software. These will help them with better career opportunities in the future.”

“UTAR academic staff can certify all the information from the students in the ePortfolio to ensure that their portfolios are true and they can add in information for the students too,” said Dr Ali.

The signing ceremony ended with a souvenir exchange between Prof Ewe and Dr Ali, followed by a group photography session.
