Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) awarded three of its staff for their excellent performance in 2010.
Associate Professor Dr Chong Kok Keong, lecturer Paul Davidson and librarian Lee Hui Ken each received an excellence award in their respective categories and a cash prize of RM1,000 from UTAR President Ir Professor Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik in the presence of Senior Management Committee members at Petaling Jaya Campus on 14 June 2011.
"I see the award as a strong encouragement for my career in UTAR," said Dr Chong, adding that he was grateful to UTAR for the award. Attached at the Faculty of Engineering and Science as the Head of Programme (Master of Engineering Science), he received the UTAR Research Excellence Award for his active involvement in research in the areas such as concentrating solar power, high concentration photovoltaic systems, sun- tracking and solar thermal energy.
"What a pleasant surprise to know that my simple efforts to improve my teaching for the past five years have got me rewarded," said Davidson, a lecturer from the Department of Science and Engineering at the Centre for Foundation Studies, Petaling Jaya Campus. He thanked his colleagues at the centre for nominating him for the UTAR Teaching Excellence Award.
Librarian Lee, from Sungai Long Campus, said, "Ideally, an employee must have passion for their career, be keen to learn and always work towards improvement with fellow colleagues." She received the UTAR Service Excellence Award, an award to administrative staff in recognition of outstanding service to the University.
The three excellence awards are given out yearly by UTAR to promote high performance culture among its staff.
