The basketball team from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) emerged as champion of the KAMY Cup - Perak Open Basketball Championship which was held on 19 July 2012 in Ipoh, Perak.
In their burning quest for the champion's title, the team from UTAR crossed sword with the team from Batu Gajah in a nail-biting, climatic finals. UTAR team walked away with a cash prize of RM1,500, 12 gold medals and a trophy after hammering their gritty opponents with an incredible score of 83 to 79
The leader of UTAR's winning team, Chai You Hong, shared, "Teamwork was essential for us to deliver excellent performances." He added that his team members had spent ample time gearing up for the championship.
This is the third successive year that UTAR has participated in the championship. UTAR had also earned second and third place in last year's championship.
Organised by Ipoh Basketball Association, the championship was open for participation for teams from Perak. A total of 24 teams took part in the championship.
