Accounting student Christopher Lee Han Wen received the Crowe Horwath XO Award at Crowe Horwath Training Centre on 10 August 2015.

Crowe Horwath is the 5th largest accounting firm in Malaysia and a member of Crowe Horwath International, a top 10 global accounting network. The Crowe Horwath XO award is specially presented to the top accounting student in UTAR each year. The award was given to Lee by Crowe Horwath managing partner, Poon Yew Hoe. Present at the ceremony was Faculty of Accountancy Deputy Dean (Student Development and Industrial Training) David Ng Ching Yat.

Besides having a good CGPA, the recipient of this award must fulfill the characteristic of the Crowe Horwath XO personality such as leadership qualities, good team work, exhibit interpersonal skills, confidence, and active involvement in extracurricular activities.

Lee who was very grateful to receive the award said, “I’d like to thank my family and friends, especially my team at UTAR for all their support. But most crucially, I would also like to thank my lecturers at UTAR for their willingness to share their experience gained through their own personal journeys. That made the crucial difference between being purely knowledgeable in theory from textbooks to being able to visualize how it can be put to practical use. What I gained from my time at UTAR was worth far more than the fees paid.” He also advised his juniors by saying that there are no shortcuts to success, but persistent hard work is required along with smart planning and time management.
