FYP poster competition

Special guests, judges, and award recipients

The Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Final Year Project (FYP) Committee organised a FYP poster competition on 12 April 2017 at Sungai Long Campus. The competition aimed to cultivate creativity, problem solving skills and research interest among LKC FES students that would benefit the society.

“As a university which constantly pursues research and educational excellence, we hope this competition will further encourage the students to actively conduct research that will prove to be valuable in their studies and future careers,” said LKC FES Dean Prof Ir Dr Goi Bok Min.

“The real warriors of this competition are our beloved participants as they have put much effort into their work, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone for making this event successful,” said LKC FES FYP Committee Chairperson Assoc Prof Dr Stella Morris.

The posters were categorised under six tracks namely, Sustainable Development and Green Technology, Social Studies and Project Management, Software Design and Prototypes, Theoretical or Experimental Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Process Automation and Simulation, and Applied Engineering. Two prizes were awarded for each track, a champion and a 1^st Runner-up.                                                 

Each champion and the 1^st Runner-up went home with a cash prize of RM250 and RM150 respectively, as well as a trophy and a certificate. Also, the most liked poster on Facebook was awarded a cash prize of RM250, a trophy and a certificate.

Track 1 and Track 6 Champions Judson Lim Meng Hooi and Tan Wen Jia said that the competition helped them to improve their presentation skills, confidence and polished their communication skills, as well as their analytical and critical thinking.

As for Track 2 and Track 5 Champions Chong Set Li and Kelvin Yik Chu How, the competition helped them to enhance their presentation skills, understand the project’s weaknesses and learn to overcome it in the future.
