The winning team 4.3°N
Team 4.3°N of UTAR Kampar Campus swept gold following an outstanding 16-4 win against the group Lycans from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam. Organised by The Ultimate Frisbee Club of University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus (UNMC), the Nottingham Ultimate Battle Royale (NUBR) 2017 was held at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus on 2 December 2017.
A Malaysia Inter-Varsity Mixed Ultimate Frisbee Tournament, NUBR 2017 aimed to provide a stage for university teams to compete against each other as well as to expose them towards other teams within the Ultimate community in Malaysia.
The Nottingham Ultimate Battle Royale was a one-day event where 10 different universities across Malaysia competed against each other. Among the universities participated were UiTM, UCSI, Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, INTI, UNMC, Manipal Medical College Melaka, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Methodist College Kuala Lumpur and UTAR.
A massive crowd gathered to witness the Nottingham Ultimate Battle Royale, where 12 different teams skilfully competed against one another. The finals and match for the bronze took place at the same time. The match for third place was won by Stingrays from INTI Nilai when they played a competitive match against UNMC’s Oops team.
The winning team 4.3°N received their individual gold medals. UTAR Kampar Campus Sports and Recreation Unit Assistant Manager S. Theva Das said, “It was a proud moment for UTAR Kampar Campus when the team 4.3°N scored two consecutive goals in the first three minutes of the match. The team demonstrated an outstanding defence skill and an exceptional coordination which led them to dominate the match. It was indeed a good platform for young players to strengthen their skills and build friendship between different universities.”
The award for Most Valuable Player Male and Female were presented to Biochemistry student Lim Tze Chin and Food Science student Dorcas Yong Siew Hui respectively in recognition of their outstanding performance in the game. They beamed, “It was a very competitive match, as the opponents were well-prepared. As for the whole tournament, it was much organised. And we are glad to be part of this.”
