Sports Carnival: Unleashing sports gene

The Sports and Recreation Unit of Department of Student Affairs (DSA) organised UTAR Sports Carnival at different sports facilities in Klang Valley area. It was held throughout the month of June 2019.

The annual event aimed to promote the goodwill and understanding between UTAR students, staff and alumni. It also aimed to encourage the members of UTAR community to participate in sporting and physical recreational activities. On top of that, the sports carnival was also held to select the UTAR Sports Team that would represent the University for the upcoming external sports events, namely SUKIPT, MASISWA Games, UTAR Sports Exchange, Clash of the UTARians and other invitations.

A total of ten games was held at the sports carnival, namely futsal, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, tug-of-war, bowling, Chinese chess, international chess and “weiqi”. About 330 participants took part in the carnival.

The groups were divided into four during the competition. The first team was led by Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) and Faculty of Accountancy and Management (FAM); Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) grouped as the second team; Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI), Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) and Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) were grouped as the third team, while the staff and alumni were grouped as the fourth team.

The overall champion for the year 2019 was LKC FES team.
