Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Entrepreneurship student Yip Mee Kuan and Bachelor of Science (Honours) Biotechnology student Chan Shu Ting won first prize and second prize respectively in the “Duit Together- Cabaran Mencipta Slogan (Fasa Terakhir)” which was held from 1 April 2020 to 30 June 2020.  The competition was organised by the Agensi Kaunseling Dan Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) which aims to help potential brides and bridegrooms to manage their finances by providing financial education materials on the proper use of credit and basic money management as well as tips on how to use credit responsibly.

Yip, who walked away with RM5,000 cash said, "Always put your heart into everything. Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does. Just believe in yourself. I came to realise that if we put our heart to complete every part of the programme, it will eventually lead to success. I am thankful and happy to win this prize. In my opinion, this competition is interesting and useful to public members because it aims to create an understanding on the importance of financial planning."

Yip added, “I just tried my best and put my heart to write the slogan based on my overall understanding and opinion. I think the winning slogan was impressive because the slogan I wrote is actually quite direct, funny and creative to conclude the importance of financial planning. It also helped me to become more efficient in my academic planning. I will consider many aspects of things before making the plans for financial, academic and my future.”

Chan, who won RM3,000 for the second prize, expressed, “I was quite surprised, in the beginning, anyway, I feel happy and proud that my slogan was chosen. Thank you AKPK!. In my opinion, it was not only just a slogan creating competition, but it was also meant to raise awareness among everyone to do financial planning more wisely in the future. Overall, it was an educational competition.”

“The slogan was actually created based on my own concept and idea in financial planning. While creating this slogan, I was required to think more and be creative so that whenever people come across this slogan, people will be able to understand that despite having a steady financial ability at this moment, it may not last forever as the future is unpredictable. In other words, people have to spend their money more wisely and start their financial planning from now,” added Chan.
