Architecture students excel in PAASWE 2021

Architecture students from Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) made great achievements in the PAM Annual Architecture Student Works Exhibition (PAASWE) 2021.

PAASWE 2021, organised by Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), showcased the very best architectural students’ works from all Malaysian public and private architecture education institutions. Each participating school was required to exhibit its students’ works according to the theme and follow the sponsored competition brief which was normally a one to one structure. The event used to be held physically for the past 14 years. This time, however, it was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the new normal. 

This year’s theme was ARC.CLIMATION. The word “ARC.CLIMATION” was derived from the combination of ARCHITECTURE and ACCLIMATION. “Acclimation” is defined as “to adjust to something new” – which perfectly encapsulates the current situation; especially in the architecture education sector and building industry.

The competition consisted of eight categories involving hundreds of entries from all architecture institutions in Malaysia. UTAR Architecture Students Society (UAS) had assisted to coordinate and select five representatives to join in five categories of the competition. Eventually, the teams won in four categories from the total five entries. Besides, two students from the Bachelor of Science (BSC) in the Architecture programme and Master of Architecture programme also achieved PAM Academic Excellent Award 2021.

The award ceremony of PAASWE 2021 was held on 19 December 2021 via Zoom and Facebook Live.
