First medal for UTAR at SUKIPT 2022

Esther Tay won the first medal for UTAR at SUKIPT

It was a victorious celebration for Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Honours) student Esther Tay when she won the first medal for UTAR at the 2022 Institutions of Higher Learning Games (SUKIPT).

Esther Tay, who participated in the Karate Kumite competition, won Bronze medal in the female under 68 kilograms (kg) category on 13 August 2022.

SUKIPT was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, in collaboration with different Sports Councils of higher learning institutions, namely MASUM, MSP, MASKOM and MASISWA. The competition started on 11 August 2022 and it will be held until 21 August 2022 at University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Tanjung Malim, Perak. The participation is open to all IPT athletes in Malaysia.

SUKIPT is a biennial event that is part of the Higher Education Ministry’s efforts to develop and advance sports at the IPT, national and international levels, in an integrated manner. It aims to produce more high-performance athletes with winning mindsets at major international-level championships. It also aims to continue the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia, not only in sports but also in institutions of higher education that are synonymous with the growth of a united society.
