UTAR alumna wins Dr Daphne Loke Award for Best Community Project at March 2022 Convocation

It was a victorious celebration for Mechatronics Engineering alumna Khaw Jia Ying when she was declared the winner of the Dr Daphne Loke Award for Best Community Project at the UTAR March 2022 Convocation.

Her winning final year project titled Design and Development of Automated Token Assembly System aimed to design an automated assembly system that is able to assemble tokens. Khaw said, “Assembly machines are relatively important for manufacturing sectors for mass production and process reliability. This project provides a significant contribution to the field of industrial automation and robotics with the integration of the automated assembly system that can assemble door gifts. Besides, the objective to enhance the reliability of assembly lines with lesser human labour and time required were achieved.”

Khaw enthused, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to my Final Year Project supervisor. I am grateful for the professional advice and motivation he gave throughout this research. Special thanks also go to Greatech Integration (M) Sdn Bhd, I have gained a better insight into industrial automation upon completing the project. Last but not least, I sincerely appreciate the support from my family and the guidance from my friend, Lim Kai Wen.”

She expressed, “Every effort counts. It is a great honour for me to receive this special award. This gives me the motivation to achieve my goals. I am enthusiastic about industrial automation and mechanical engineering design, and I am excited to explore the future possibilities in the area of automation.”
