Postgraduate student awarded Doctoral Research Mobility Grant by the Embassy of France to Malaysia

Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES) Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) postgraduate student Wong Yi Jie was awarded the Doctoral Research Mobility Grant from the Embassy of France to Malaysia. The announcement was made on 17 July 2023.

The grant will allow the recipient to stay at Université Sorbonne Paris Nord, starting from 1st October 2023. Furthermore, the recipient will receive a range of substantial benefits through this mobility grant. Firstly, it includes a monthly allowance, ensuring that students have the financial means to support themselves during their research stay in France. Secondly, the grant provides coverage for transportation costs between Malaysia and France, granting the recipients a round-trip ticket.

This grant represents a tremendous opportunity to collaborate with some of the foremost experts in my field from France. I am truly elated about the boundless possibilities that this experience holds for my academic and personal growth.”

The Service of Cultural Cooperation and Action, Embassy of France to Malaysia places great emphasis on the training of human resources in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. The PhD mobility grant scheme was introduced to fulfil this strategic objective. The primary purpose of this scheme is to offer financial assistance to PhD students who aspire to undertake a research stay in France, lasting for a duration of three to four months. This opportunity is open to all Malaysian PhD students enrolled in various higher education institutions across the country, regardless of the private or public sector. The selection process for the grant was based on the specific eligibility criteria outlined in the official call for applications.
