Lee Kong Chian
Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES), Department of Electrical and
Electronic Engineering, Prof Dr Chong Kok Keong, has been honored with the
Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) President’s International Fellowship
Initiative (PIFI). This international recognition is a testament to Prof
Chong's exceptional research output related to tailoring organic solar cells
under local spectral irradiance.
The CAS
President's International Fellowship Initiative is an esteemed funding
program aimed at attracting talented researchers from across the world to
engage in scientific exchanges and research collaborations at CAS. The
program offers various types of fellowships to cater to different levels of
scientific research personnel, including Distinguished Scientists, Visiting
Scientists, Postdoctoral Researchers, Special Experts, Young Staff, PhD
Students, and Master Students.
Prof Chong's
fellowship falls under the "Visiting Scientists" category, which will
facilitate an international research collaboration between him and Prof
Huiqiong Zhou from the National Centre for Nanoscience and Technology,
Beijing, CAS. The fellowship comes with a generous monthly stipend worth RMB
45,000, which will cover Prof Chong's living expenses during his stay in
China, health insurance, and economy-class round-trip international travel.
Prof Chong is
deeply grateful for the support he has received from UTAR Vice President for
R&D and Commercialisation, Prof Ts Dr Faidz Bin Abd Rahman, and the Director
of Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (IPSR), Assoc Prof Dr Yong
Thian Khok. Their unwavering support, particularly with respect to the UTAR
Special Research Fund (UTARSRF), has been instrumental in his research
success. Additionally, Prof Chong expresses his sincere appreciation to the
Dean of LKC FES Assoc Prof Ts Dr Yap Wun She, and the Head of the Department
of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chang Yoong Choon,
for their invaluable administrative support.
