Prof Choong said, “The challenge is a good platform for students to showcase their digital skills while promoting their student lives in UTAR, and UTAR itself. It also enables our students to put their creativity skills to practice. I have also students telling me that YouTube is also a good platform for them to learn new things and skills, therefore we should move at pace with the technological advances and grasp the opportunities to learn from the benefits that the technology has provided.”
He also added, “I also admire the hard work, dedication and their willingness to learn. This is certainly a good attitude because, in this fast-changing world, we need to be able to adapt fast to survive and be resilient in facing challenges. I believe UTAR has done a good job in nurturing our students to be adaptable and resilient, which makes our UTAR graduates highly sought after in the working world.”
Khiew Loon said, “This challenge lasted for five months, and I am delighted to witness the participation of these talented students who demonstrated their creativity through their videos and their enthusiasm in promoting their content via YouTube. I would also like to thank our Director, Division of Programme Promotion and the judges for supporting this challenge.”
He continued, “In this modern era, young people are assumed as digital natives who are skilful in preparing videos; they can have their creative content viewable via social media platforms. Therefore, this challenge aims to provide a platform for students to showcase their talent in developing video content, according to the theme. As we all know, UTAR has grown much over the years, with many awards and accolades awarded to UTAR, thus we want to use this challenge to enable our students to apply their critical thinking and digital literacy skills in producing video content to share to a wider audience and the public on the reason UTAR is chosen as the preferred higher educational institution. We believe it will also be an effective promotional tool to highlight the strengths of UTAR.”
Grace Lim thanked the organising committee for the opportunity to showcase her experience and skills, and also expressed her joy in winning the challenge. She received RM1,000 cash prize, while the other five finalists received RM100 cash prize each.
