Research paper published in the high impact International Journal of Electric Power and Energy Systems

UTAR Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science PhD student Hoo Dick Sang, under the guidance of his supervisor, Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chua Kein Huat, had his research paper recently published in the International Journal of Electrical Power and Energy Systems (JEPE), a high-impact Elsevier journal.

Titled "Comparison of regenerative braking energy recovery of a DC third rail system under various operating conditions", the research paper is co-authored by his co-supervisor Professor Ir Dr Lim Yun Seng, with the expertise of Assoc Prof Ts Dr Stella Morris, along with the valuable contribution from Professor Wang Li of the Department of Electrical Engineering from the National Cheng Kung University.

This paper is based on the research and study which provided a deep insight into regenerative braking energy recovery of a DC third rail system under various operating conditions, particularly the MRT Line 2 in Malaysia. The paper outlines the development of a framework that models the power flow within an electric rail network using actual system information from a practical DC third rail system.
