LKC FES academic awarded MyEMBS Publication Excellence Award (Junior Researcher)

Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Sciences (LKC FES) academic Assoc Prof Ir Dr Chee Pei Song was awarded the MyEMBS Publication Excellence Award (Junior Researcher) by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer) – EMBS (Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society) Malaysia Section. The award ceremony was held in conjunction with the MyEMBS Summit 2023 on 1 November 2023 at the Faculty of Engineering of Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The award recognises contributions made by the author(s) in the biomedical engineering field, whereby their contributions will be assessed by the quality of publication in its area over the past five years. The award is also based on the Scopus metrics of the papers.

With this award, Dr Chee also received a certificate of recognition; an invitation to speak as an invited speaker at IEEE-EMBS Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Sciences 2024 (IECBES2024); and an RM150 rebate for IEEE EMBS Membership 2024.

Dr Chee expressed, “My research primarily focuses on developing flexible actuators and sensors tailored for biomedical applications, and it is also in line with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Notably, a significant portion of my research has progressed to the stage of securing grants, which are now in the process of transitioning into commercial ventures and patent applications. This line of investigation holds exceptional significance, particularly within the purview of EMBS.”
