CFS students awarded Gold medals

Six outstanding students from the Centre for Foundation Studies of Sungai Long Campus (CFS-SL) earned an invitation to the “Award Ceremony 2023”, organised on 28 October 2023. The students were all Gold medalists who took part in various competitions and emerged as winners in their respective categories.

The six Gold medalists invited to attend the award ceremony were Wong Guan Ming, the winner of the Kijang Economics Competition 2023; Han Hong Chou, the winner of the Kancil Science Competition 2023; Tey Yi You and Chan Wai Hong, the winners of the Beaver Computational Thinking Competition 2023, and Yew Fu Li and Soo Weng Hoe, the winners of the Kangaroo Mathematics Competition 2023. Each of them walked away with a medal and a certificate.

These students were sponsored by the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) and CFS-SL to take part in the competitions. UTAR CSF-SL Head of Science and Engineering Department Ms Kong Jee Kim was also present at the ceremony.

The Kijang Economics Competition 2023 was conducted nationwide on 12 July 2023 via online platform. Out of the 10 CFS students who participated in the competition, Wong emerged as the Gold Medal winner.

The Kancil Science Competition 2023 was conducted physically nationwide on 14 June 2023 in respective schools and institutions. Out of the 10 CFS students who participated in the competition, Han emerged as the Gold Medal winner.

The Kangaroo Mathematics Competition 2023 was conducted physically nationwide on 18 May 2023 in respective schools and institutions. Out of the 17 CFS students who participated in the competition, Yew and Soo emerged as the Gold Medal winners.

The Beaver Computational Thinking Competition 2023 was conducted nationwide on 21 June 2023 via online platform. Out of the 12 CFS students who participated in the competition, Chan and Tey emerged as the Gold Medal winners.

The objective of the award ceremony was to recognise the efforts and achievements of these students and honour them for their outstanding accomplishments in the competitions. UTAR congratulates these students for their achievements.
