Dr Abdelhak’s enthused:

“I am so happy and thankful to receive the Outstanding Reviewer in the 2023 Emerald Literati Awards. This is the second time I have been honoured with an Emerald Literati Award, with my first accolade coming in 2019 when my paper was highly commended. It is a testament to the dedication and commitment I hold for the field of social economics and the rigorous peer review process. This recognition not only reinforces my passion for academic research but also underscores the importance of maintaining the highest standards of excellence in scholarly work.

In 2019, being awarded the highly commended paper was a milestone in my academic journey. It was a moment of immense pride and validation of the effort I put into my research. It also encouraged me to continue pushing the boundaries of knowledge and to explore new avenues within my field. The journey from then to now has been marked by continuous learning and growth.

In addition to my Emerald Literati Awards, I was honoured to receive the E-Learning Excellence Award from UTAR. This recognition underlines my dedication to innovative and effective teaching methods, which are critical in today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape.

Furthermore, my contributions to the academic community extend beyond my role as a reviewer for the International Journal of Social Economics. I was also acknowledged as the top reviewer in 2022 for Cogent Economics and Finance, published by Taylor and Francis. This recognition is a testament to my dedication to the peer review process and my ongoing commitment to the dissemination of high-quality research within the broader field of economics.

These achievements would not have been possible without the support of UTAR, management, colleagues, and the nurturing academic environment at UTAR. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have been provided to excel in my field.

As I reflect on these accomplishments, I am reminded of the importance of perseverance, dedication, and the pursuit of knowledge. I remain committed to pushing the boundaries of research, fostering academic excellence, and contributing to the vibrant academic community that has played a pivotal role in my journey.

I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have been part of my academic journey - from UTAR, FBF management and colleagues to the various institutions that have recognised my contributions. I look forward to continuing my research, teaching, and peer review activities with even greater enthusiasm and dedication in the years to come.”

Thavamalar inspired:

“It is a great honour to have received the title of ‘Outstanding Reviewer’ in the renowned 2023 Emerald Literati Awards from the esteemed editorial board of the Journal of Business and Socio-economic Development. The commitment and work I put into my academic career, especially during my PhD studies, is recognised by this award. I found the Journal of Business and Socio-economic Development while actively looking for places to submit my research articles. I made the decision to participate as a reviewer as well after seeing the value of constructive peer review in academic publishing.

I had the honour of attending a Taylor & Francis session on “Excellence in Peer Review: How to be an Effective Peer Reviewer” as part of my quest for peer reviewer excellence. This priceless training helped me improve my reviewing abilities and gave me an understanding of the complexities of the peer review procedure. Additionally, I must express my sincere gratitude to my colleague Dr Abdelhak, whose guidance and knowledge significantly improved my comprehension of the reviewing procedure.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Journal of Business and Socio-economic Development editorial board for their nomination of me for this prestigious award. In addition, I would like to thank UTAR for constantly giving me the chance to publish my work and participate as a reviewer. This honour inspires me and drives me to continue my research, teaching, and peer review efforts in the years to come with even more enthusiasm and commitment.

I am absolutely happy and proud to have received this award, and I appreciate the recognition given to my work. I greatly anticipate adding to the academic community and developing significantly in my profession.”

Emerald Literati Awards is one of the largest, independent award schemes led by a publisher. It has recognised the outstanding contributions of the authors and reviewers to scholarly research for 30 years.

The Most Outstanding Reviewer Award is presented to recognise the contribution made to ensure that every paper published makes a genuine impact on the academic field. Reviewers are essential to the scholarly publishing process; academics rely on peer review to verify their research and add value to it through critical engagement before publication.

Reviewers are specialists in a given area of research and are well-placed to assess the soundness of an author’s work and share their own knowledge.
