LKC FES lecturer wins Best Paper Award at EMCEI-23

The award certificate won by Dr Shuit

Ts Dr Shuit Siew Hoong, a lecturer at Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES), made UTAR proud when he won the Best Paper Award at the 5^th Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI-23), which took place from 2 to 5 October 2023 in Rende (Cosenza), Italy.

EMCEI-23 featured a total of 16 tracks this year. The best paper was selected for each track with the evaluation criteria of 40% from the paper’s originality and 60% from the presentation. Dr Shuit’s paper titled “Flexibility of the bifunctional polyethersulfone microcapsule in the removal of anionic and cationic pollutants” was awarded under Track 1: Engineering Applications for Environmental Management.

Dr Shuit walked away with an award certificate. In addition, the journal Open Chemistry will award €300 to the author with the highest scores among all tracks. This award will be announced after the decision is made by the editorial board of the journal.

The 5th Euro-Mediterranean Conference for Environmental Integration (EMCEI-23) is the largest Environmental Sciences Conference in the Mediterranean region. With more than 1,200 submissions from over 90 countries, the conference this year aimed to support research and innovation, promote the exchange of scientific knowledge, and foster collaboration among Euro-Mediterranean communities.
