Marketing Poster Competition prize-giving ceremony

The nine finalists of the Marketing Poster Competition 2023 were announced at the prize-giving ceremony, held at UTAR Sungai Long Campus on 18 September 2023. Around 200 students showed up to witness the prize-giving.

The competition, which is held twice a year as part of the FHBM 1124 Marketing subject, aims to provide a platform for students to unleash their creativity. It also aims to equip the students with poster designing skills and enhance their learning in a competitive manner. The competition this semester saw the participation of more than 520 students who were divided into 71 groups respectively.

Each group was required to come up with a poster to promote the product that they were proposing for their company to introduce in the market. Their poster should convey information about the new products and attract potential customers to buy the products. A total of nine finalists were selected based on the number of votes attained.

The winners won prizes in the form of bonus marks awarded to their assignment component of this course. The second runner-up winners won three marks, whereas the first runner-ups and champion won five and 10 marks respectively. The champion team also took home a goodies bag containing snacks and stationeries as their winning prize.

Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) of Sungai Long Campus Director Ms Melissa Stefanie Netto was present at the prize-giving ceremony to reward the winners. Also present were CFS Head of Department of Management and Accountancy Ms Goy Ling Ling, and CFS lecturers Ms Ang Chin Ing and Ms Ngo Siau Woon.

Ms Goy, in her closing speech, thanked everyone for their participation and applauded them for their effort. She encouraged the students to work hard to gain more marks so they could excel in their examinations.
