Dr Hew Jun Jie ranked in Top 0.5% of scholars worldwide by ScholarGPS
UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) academic Dr Hew Jun Jie has recently been honoured by ScholarGPS, a distinguished platform that ranks scholars globally based on their scholarly contributions. Dr Hew was announced as one of the top 0.5% of scholars worldwide, highlighting his exceptional performance and contributions across multiple fields.
ScholarGPS, renowned for its rigorous ranking methodologies and proprietary algorithms, provides a comprehensive analysis of scholars’ performance. According to the website, it stands as the only platform offering multi-level, quantitative rankings of both individual scholars and institutions. These rankings are determined through a combination of metrics including publication counts, citation indices, h-index, and the ScholarGPS Ranks that integrate all these factors.
For the year 2022, Dr Hew was distinguished in several categories. He was ranked in the top 0.5% of scholars in “Overall (All Fields)”, “Business and Management”, “Finance”, and “Informatics”. Specifically, Dr Hew achieved remarkable placements with the following rankings:
In his response to this honour, Dr Hew expressed his gratitude and reflected on the significance of the recognition. He said, “It is my pleasure to receive this honour from ScholarGPS, an American company based in California. This honour means a lot to me as it testifies to my research productivity as well as the quality and impact of my scholarly work. Moreover, the citation counts, a key criterion for this ranking, represent a precious indicator of the significance of my research.”
Dr Hew also credited his co-authors, whose dedication and persistence in research have been crucial to his achievements. “I believe that my co-authors’ commitment to research has been a driving force behind this success,” he added.
Furthermore, Dr Hew acknowledged the vital role of UTAR in his accomplishments. “I would like to thank UTAR for always providing me with the necessary environment and resources to conduct my research. The support from the top management throughout my 12 years here has been instrumental in my career as an academician and researcher. I believe that I would not have achieved this honour without the consistent support from the university.”
