FCI student's motion graphics shine on global stage

Law with her award

UTAR student Law Khor Nee has made waves in the international design community by winning the Visual Category Award under the Student Category at the Kyoto Global Design Awards 2024. Held annually to celebrate global innovation and excellence in design, this year's competition took place virtually, attracting participants from across the globe.

Law, currently in her third year of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Graphic Design and Multimedia at the Faculty of Creative Industries, captured the judges' attention with her project titled Webflow. The work, which can be viewed on the award's official website here, highlights the potential of user-friendly web design platforms to empower creators and reshape the digital landscape.

The Kyoto Global Design Awards seek to recognise talents whose work integrates aesthetic brilliance, societal impact, and sustainability. Law's project excelled in these areas, showcasing how web design can prioritise accessibility and creativity without compromising on innovation.

Reflecting on her journey, Law shared, "Initially, I was hesitant to enter the competition. However, my industrial training experience boosted my confidence and equipped me with the necessary skills. Winning this award has been a humbling and motivating experience."

She credited her family's support and the guidance of her supervisor, Mr Lee Kin Keong, as instrumental to her success. "This recognition has inspired me to explore further in the fields of design and creativity while pushing my boundaries," she said.

Law's accomplishment extends beyond personal achievement. The recognition includes a certificate of achievement and the Kyoto Global Design Awards 2024 Label (Student). Her success underlines the global relevance of her work and the potential of design to drive societal and technological advancement.
