LKC FES students certified as Huawei Certified ICT Associate-AI

Certificates of the students

Three students from Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering and Science (LKC FES), namely Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Honours students Goo Zhi Yin and Wee Jie Yi, and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Electronics (Computer Networking) student Teh Jin En were recently certified as Huawei Certified ICT Associate-Artificial Intelligence (HCIA-AI), after successfully passing the HCIA-AI certification.

Teh enthused, “Passing the exam has been both a fulfilling and rewarding experience for me. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my Integrated Design Project (IDP) supervisor and academic advisor, Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Tham Mau Luen, for providing me with the invaluable opportunity to take the exam. His unwavering support, guidance, and encouragement have been instrumental in helping me achieve this milestone. This certification is not just a testament to my efforts but also a reflection of the tremendous support I’ve received throughout this journey. Obtaining this certification marks a significant milestone in my journey to mastering AI technologies and reflects my strong passion for this rapidly evolving field. I am proud of the effort I dedicated to this journey, and this achievement has given me a profound sense of accomplishment and renewed motivation to further explore and excel in the field of AI. This achievement has boosted my confidence in applying AI technologies and broadened my understanding of AI development and machine learning. I also believe it will significantly enhance my career prospects.”

When asked about her preparation for the exam, she explained, “It was an enriching process. I thoroughly studied Huawei’s official online course and training materials, focusing on AI architecture, deep learning frameworks, and practical applications. I made notes to reinforce my understanding to supplement the materials. Mock exams were especially helpful in familiarising myself with the format and identifying areas for improvement.”

Goo, on the other hand, prepared for her exam by thoroughly reviewing the exam syllabus and concentrating on essential topics, including machine learning, deep learning, and AI application development. She said, “To deepen my understanding, I made extensive use of Huawei’s official training materials and online courses, which provided valuable insights and practical knowledge. Therefore, passing this exam fills me with immense gratitude and appreciation. I am especially thankful to my Integrated Design Project (IDP) supervisor, Assoc Prof Ir Ts Dr Tham Mau Luen, for assisting me in obtaining the exam voucher and for his unwavering support throughout this journey. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities he has provided for me, enabling me to grow both academically and personally. This certification is not just a testament to my efforts but also a reflection of my hard work and dedication, and it opens the door to countless opportunities. It has provided me with comprehensive knowledge of AI systems and practical skills, empowering me to address real-world challenges with confidence. In an increasingly digitalised world, this certification significantly boosts my career prospects, enhancing my competitiveness in the tech industry and preparing me to face future challenges effectively.”

Wee also expressed her thanks to Dr Tham for all his guidance and support, and said, “Passing the Huawei Certified ICT AI exam is a great achievement for me. It boosts my confidence in working with AI and ICT technologies. I also believe it will open up new career opportunities for me. This certification will help me stay competitive in the fast-evolving tech field.”

Dr Tham commended the students on their success in passing the HCIA AI certification. He said, “This shows that the students recognise the importance of the certificates in leading to better job prospects and professional growth. I would also like to thank Huawei for sponsoring the exam vouchers for the three students.”

The HCIA-AI is a programme aimed at training and certificating engineers who can use algorithms, such as machine learning and deep learning algorithms, to design and develop AI products and solutions and make improvements through innovation.

Passing the HCIA-AI certification signifies that candidates understand the history of AI development, the Huawei Ascend AI system, the Huawei full-stack all-scenario AI strategy, cutting-edge AI applications, and algorithms related to traditional machine learning and deep learning. Additionally, they are capable of building, training, and deploying neural networks using the MindSpore development framework. This certification also prepares them to assume AI-related roles in sales, marketing, product management, project management, technical support, and other areas.
