FCI students’ artwork debuts at United Nations Headquarters in New York at the Dragon on Tour Global Celebration of the Lunar New Year Exhibition
To mark the Year of the Dragon, a splendid art exhibition themed, the Dragon on Tour Global Celebration of the Lunar New Year Exhibition (龙腾四海共迎新春), was organised at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
UTAR Graphic Design and Multimedia students Hoh Sheng Yue and Sheanne Chin Seng Wei’s artwork titled Year of Dragon: Prosperity at Its Peak was selected for display at the exhibition, making Malaysia’s debut in the international exhibition.
The Dragon on Tour Global Celebration of the Lunar New Year Exhibition brings together the works of more than 20 young designers from 13 economies, combining the Chinese Dragon with local icons and landmarks, to usher in the celebration of spring of 2024.
UTAR congratulates Sheng Yue and Sheanne Chin who are from UTAR Faculty of Creative Industries (FCI) Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Graphic Design and Multimedia. Their artistic work, Year of Dragon: Prosperity at Its Peak, selected for the global exhibition, represents an artwork of international standards. The students were coached by FCI Department of Multimedia Design and Animation Lecturer Mr Lee Kin Keong.
Held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Dragon on Tour Global Celebration of the Lunar New Year Exhibition was jointly organised by HONOR, UNSRC Chinese Book Club, huanqiu.com (Global Times), and the Central Academy of Fine Arts on 8 February 2024. The exhibition was also supported by the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations.
The students’ artwork, Year of Dragon: Prosperity at Its Peak integrates the traditional Malaysian Chinese food Yee Sang, showing the integration of Malaysia’s multiculturalism and conveying the good wishes of warmth and unity.
Held as part of the 2023 HONOR Talents Global Design Awards, this joint celebration of the Dragon on Tour Global Celebration of the Lunar New Year Exhibition brought a successful conclusion to the 2023 HONOR Talents Global Design Awards.
HONOR Talents Global Design Awards is committed to bringing together those at the forefront of youth art. It aims to mobilise the rich resources of the HONOR brand to support, empower and incubate more original works. The project continues to focus on art design, end-product experiential design and new forms of design expression to further the global discourse between art and technology.
