Two UTAR students awarded Yayasan Mr. D.I.Y Scholarship

Two UTAR students, Cheong Wai Kee and Tan Zhi Liang, have been awarded the Yayasan Mr. D.I.Y. Scholarship, effective January 2024. The scholarship agreement was signed on 11 January 2024 at MR D.I.Y. Trading Sdn Bhd.

Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management student Cheong Wai Kee from the Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) expressed, “I express my sincerest thanks for selecting me as one of the recipients of Yayasan MR. DIY. Your generous support has greatly reduced the financial burden on my family and made me more motivated and confident to learn without any concerns or worries. So, I will study hard and get good grades to repay your support and trust in me. I will try my best to always improve myself to create value for MR. DIY company and the community.”

Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting student Tan Zhi Liang from FBF conveyed his appreciation and said, “I wanted to express my deepest thanks for this amazing opportunity. I’m incredibly grateful for the support and belief in my education. This scholarship means more than just financial help. It’s a symbol of hope and a sign of your dedication to helping students like me achieve their dreams. Thanks to your generosity, I can now focus on my studies without worrying about money. This scholarship has not only eased the financial burden on my family but has also opened up new opportunities for me.”

During the signing of the agreement

Yayasan Mr. D.I.Y. Scholarship is a scholarship programme targeted towards students from the lower income family groups. The scholarship encompasses full university expenses, including tuition, books, accommodation, and a monthly stipend. To qualify for this esteemed scholarship, recipients must maintain a commendable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 and above, highlighting a dedication to academic excellence. Moreover, recipients benefit from mandatory internships and practical training at MR. D.I.Y., offering invaluable real-world exposure and the opportunity to apply academic learning in a professional context.
