Confucius Institute at UTAR awarded Excellent Organisation Award at global short video competition

The Confucius Institute at UTAR won the Excellent Organisation Award

The Confucius Institute (CI) at UTAR was awarded the Excellent Organisation Award at the 2024 CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event (第四届“最·孔院”短视频征集活动) on 27 September 2024.

Apart from that, four submissions from the Confucius Institute at UTAR were also able to live up to expectations by winning one first prize and three third prizes.  The “A Piece of Calligraphy, Segment of a Story” (一幅书法,一段故事) created by CI Teaching Assistant Tan Xianjing won the first prize, while “Nyonya Kuih: The Crystallisation of Chinese-Malaysian Culinary Culture” (娘惹糕:中马饮食文化结合的结晶) by Tan, “Traditional Chinese Medicine on the Tip of the Tongue” (舌尖上的中医文化) by Tan, and “Discover the Hakka Spirit Through Hakka Cuisine” (从客家菜中发现客家精神) by ICS alumna Chen Ee Ke, Tan and CI Teaching Assistant Phoon Kitmun won the third prizes.

“Nyonya Kuih: The Crystallization of Chinese-Malaysian Culinary Culture”, “Traditional Chinese Medicine on the Tip of the Tongue” and “Discover the Hakka Spirit Through Hakka Cuisine” short videos won third prizes

The CI Moments Global Short Video Collection Event is a significant annual event organised by the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF) with the support of the China Education Publishing & Media Group. The awards were presented to the winners by China Education Publishing & Media Group Chairman Feng Yunsheng.

This year’s competition received 743 entries from 192 Confucius Institutes across 91 economies, as well as 41 entries from non-Confucius Institute organisations, setting new records for both quantity and quality of submissions. The expert panel awarded a total of three grand prizes, 15 first prizes, 30 second prizes, and 100 third prizes. Additionally, 35 Confucius Institutes were presented with the Best Organisational Award, and 20 creators were honoured with the title of “CI’s Got Talent Prize”.

Confucius Institute at UTAR will continue to play an active role in promoting cultural cooperation between Malaysia and China, and contribute to the friendly relations and common development of both economies. The Institute is looking forward to achieving greater success in the coming year’s competition.
