UTAR athletes with
Malaysian students studying at Beijing University
A team of seven athletes from UTAR
participated in the 5th Lancang-Mekong College
Students’ Goodwill Games and the 7th South and Southeast Asia College
Student Culture and Sports Week, held at Kunming University of Science
and Technology (KUST), China, from 1 until 9 September 2024. The event aimed
to foster friendship, unity, and cultural exchange among students from
across the region through sports.
The seven athletes were Lim Yik
Yong Men, Chong Xu Shen, Tan Ming Yue Men, John Ling Lee En Men, Lim Xin Yi,
Adeline Pang Zou Yun and Sim Qiu Hua. Tan Ming Yue and the doubles team of
Lim Yik Yong and Chong Xu Shen achieved commendable results, securing 4th
and 5th place, respectively, in their categories.
Also present at the game were The
Consul General of Malaysia in Kunming, Muhamad Akmal Abdul Wahab, who showed
support for the Malaysian team, adding to the excitement and camaraderie of
the event. The games celebrated the spirit of sportsmanship, regional
cooperation, and cultural engagement, underscoring the growing alliance of
educational institutions in Asia.
UTAR looks forward to continuing
its journey in fostering goodwill and cooperation in future events, uniting
students across borders through the power of sports and culture.
