LKC FES academic secures APEC grant for AI driven industry 4.0 transformation research

The Chairperson of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Computing Applications, Prof Ts Dr Yau Kok Lim, secured a prestigious grant from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). The grant, valued at USD120,000, will fund a groundbreaking project titled “Application of generative artificial intelligence to accelerate Industry 4.0 transformation in micro, small, and medium enterprises”.

The project aims to explore the integration of generative artificial intelligence into Industry 4.0, focusing on how micro, small, and medium enterprises with limited resources can adopt this technology in areas like product design, content creation, manufacturing process optimisation, and solution recommendations. It will also cover the benefits for these enterprises, as well as security and ethical concerns and strategies to address these issues.

Prof Yau’s achievement highlights his dedication and expertise in computing and AI, demonstrating the significant impact that advanced technologies can have on driving economic growth and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
