Lim Yee Ching, a fifth-year Master of Medical Science
student from UTAR M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK
FMHS), won the Best Oral Presentation Award (3rd Prize) at the 20th Annual
Scientific Meeting of the College of Pathologists that took place from 5-6
August 2024 at Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan, Pahang. Organised by the College of
Pathologists Academy of Medicine Malaysia, the annual scientific meeting
brought together leading professionals and researchers in the field of
pathology for a knowledge exchange session.
Lim’s award-winning presentation, titled
“Fibroblast-originated IPSCs demonstrate superior differentiation
capabilities in haematopoietic differentiation”, stood out among the many
presentations at the conference. Her research, which delved into the
differentiation capabilities of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs)
derived from fibroblasts, impressed the judges with its innovative approach
and potential impact on medical science.
This award is a testament to the calibre of research
and academic excellence that UTAR fosters within its community. Lim’s
success not only highlights her dedication and expertise in her field but
also reflects the high standards upheld by MK FMHS.
UTAR congratulates Lim on this significant
accomplishment. Her recognition at the 20th Annual Scientific Meeting of the
