UTAR female volleyball team crowned champion

A crowning glory for UTAR female volleyball team when they won champion at the Kejohanan Bola Tampar Wanita Liga Sukan Komuniti Peringkat Daerah Kampar Tahun 2024, organised by Pejabat Belia & Sukan Daerah Kampar with the support of Persatuan Sepak Takraw Daerah Kampar, on 4 August 2024, at Kampar Old Town Basketball Court.

The team consisted of members Ching Yee Bei, Ho Bui Wei, Kan Yuet Yi, Chong Jia Xuan, Catherine Kang Jia Hui, Wong Chai Ling, Ch’ng Chean Pei, Yii Ying, Ang Xie Chie, Tan Shi Ling, Teh Min Shiuan, and Soo Thoo Jing Xuan. They took home RM500 as cash prize and medals. They will be representing the Kampar district to compete in the state levels in September.

Aimed at building an active and health-conscious community, the competition is an annual event opened to all Kampar district female volleyball players aged 15 years and above, who have not represented at the state or national level. It also aimed at fostering a strong spirit of sportsmanship and unity among players of various backgrounds. It was truly a platform that enabled each player to embrace diversity, inclusivity and the promotion of good health.

The team enthused, “Our team’s dedication and relentless practice really helped us stand out from the rest. All players trained and worked tirelessly. We were prepared for any possible outcome. Nevertheless, we faced the challenges courageously and won this tournament. It means so much to us because it testifies to our hard work and determination. It has also become our biggest motivation to continue training hard so we can be more prepared for bigger tournaments, including the state-level competition. Therefore, we are grateful for this achievement, and we are also thankful to our coaches for their guidance and support, as well as UTAR for providing us with a platform to showcase our skills and talents in sports, which is also helpful in enhancing our capabilities and advancing our professional growth.”

The coaches expressed, “We are proud of the team, and we hope this will motivate them to train harder for the next tournament. We also hope they take this achievement as a stepping stone to improve their skills and techniques.”
