FSc lecturer honoured with prestigious
LogM President’s Award for Outstanding Logistics Research

Assoc Prof Gs Ts Dr Lam Weng Hoe from the Faculty of Science (FSc), UTAR, was conferred the LogM President’s Award for Outstanding Logistics Research by The Society of Logisticians, Malaysia (LogM) in recognition of his significant contributions to logistics and supply chain research.

The prestigious award was presented on 6 December 2025 during the LogM Logistician Admission Ceremony, held in conjunction with the LogM 15th Anniversary Celebration Dinner at the Gurney Bay Hotel, Penang. The award presentation was officiated by the President of LogM, Dato’ Log Ts Dr Chang Kah Loon.

Expressing his gratitude, Dr Lam shared that he felt “thankful and honoured” to receive the award, describing it as a meaningful milestone in his academic and professional journey. He added that the recognition serves as a strong boost to his career, professional reputation, and ongoing contribution to the logistics field.

“This award reflects my journey in logistics research, which is dedicated to achieving operational excellence and sustainability in the logistics field,” he said.

Dr Lam’s award-winning research focuses on multi-criteria decision-making and optimisation, with a particular emphasis on developing solutions to complex logistics challenges. His work involves the formulation of multi-objective optimisation models and advanced techniques to address logistics problems characterised by a large number of variables, offering a more systematic and rigorous approach to decision-making.

He highlighted that one of the key strengths of his research lies in its practical relevance, as it enables the logistics industry to adopt data-driven decision-making approaches. By analysing datasets with multiple variables, his research provides valuable insights that support more informed, efficient, and sustainable logistics operations.

The award was endorsed by the LogM Board of Assessment, Accreditation, and Certification (LogM BAAC) following a comprehensive evaluation process, highlighting the high calibre, relevance, and impact of Dr Lam’s scholarly contributions.

This distinguished recognition not only affirms Dr Lam’s commitment to academic excellence but also reflects UTAR’s continuous efforts in advancing impactful research that bridges academic inquiry with real-world industry needs.
