MK FMHS academic and team win Gold medal at international teaching and learning innovation carnival

M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (MK FMHS) academic Dr Kaur Kirandeep Kulwant and her team comprising Prof Ts Dr Manjit Singh Sidhu, Sara Mousakhani, Dr Adzly Annuar, and Dr Zaimah Hassan from another institution won the Gold Medal at the 7th International Putra InnoCreative Carnival in Teaching and Learning 2025 (I-PICTL2025). The event was held in conjunction with SULAM@UPM Carnival 2025 on 16 and 17 June 2025 at Dewan Besar Pusat Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah (PKKSSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). Organised by UPM’s Centre for Academic Development & Leadership Excellence (CADe-Lead), I-PICTL is an internationally recognised platform that fosters innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.

Dr Kirandeep and her team, earned the Gold Medal in the “Education” category for their innovative project titled METAMORPHLAB. The project was submitted under the subtheme “Inclusive and personalised learning approaches for adaptive learning” and involved an extended abstract, a video pitch, and a poster presentation.

Dr Kirandeep shared, “We are truly honoured and humbled to receive the Gold Medal at such a highly respected event. It reaffirms that innovation in education can make a tangible difference. The recognition motivates us to further refine and expand METAMORPHLAB for broader impact.”

She added, “This platform allowed us to validate our work and connect with fellow educators worldwide. Winning this award enhances the visibility of our innovation, opening doors to further collaborations, funding opportunities, and the potential to scale our project to benefit more learners globally.”

I-PICTL2025 attracted participants from over 30 institutions, with outstanding entries like METAMORPHLAB recognised for pushing boundaries in educational innovation. The success of Dr Kirandeep and her team showcases UTAR’s ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and impactful educational practices.
