THP FBF Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Banking and Finance students Lai An Xuan, Lim Wei Hong, and Siow Pei Yee, together with Bachelor of Finance (Honours) students Ng Kai En and Jason Chan Jin Yung, displayed outstanding financial finesse, securing 5th place in the Financial Fortitude: Intervarsity Competition, held at INTI International College Subang (IICS) on 14 May 2025.

The team was supervised by THP FBF academic Mr Lim Chong Heng. They walked away with merchandise from Philip Capital Management as well as products and vouchers worth RM150 from Claire Organics.

The competition was organised by IICS AKPK (Agensi Kaunseling dan Pengurusan Kredit) Club. It aimed to challenge students’ knowledge and skills in personal financial management through simulated real-world scenarios. The competitive event attracted a total of 13 teams from local universities.

The Financial Fortitude challenge was categorised into three stages. The first stage was a 45-minute workshop session by AKPK to introduce participants to financial planning. The second stage was a case study competition, requiring participants to provide solutions based on given real-world financial scenarios. Meanwhile, the final stage entailed a campaign presentation, tasking participants to create a 30-second promotional video and present their ideas based on the concept, “How to organise innovative financial literacy campaigns for youth.”

The team of Finance students were not only delighted by their achievement in the competition, but also grateful for the invaluable experience it provided. As the competition concluded, they reflected on both their strengths and areas for improvement. They noted that skills such as analysis, decision-making, and teamwork were among their fortes, while they recognised a need to enhance their presentation delivery and creativity in slide design.

Nonetheless, the young minds were not discouraged, they remained determined. “No pain, no gain. We will strive for the best,” the team enthused, looking forward to the future.
