The prestigious list by Research.com is compiled based on a scientist’s D-index (Discipline H-index), which considers the number of publications and citations within a specific discipline. Being featured on this list is a testament to the quality, relevance, and global impact of the researchers’ scholarly work.
Prof Lee, whose research focuses on operations management, supply chain management, mobile technology, and information systems, expressed her gratitude for the recognition. “I’m truly humbled and grateful to be included among esteemed peers in Business and Management. This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my co-authors, the university, my family, and God,” she shared.
Prof Lee’s research aims to expand existing theories while exploring under-researched areas within the ever-evolving digital and global business landscape. With publications in reputable journals and active collaboration with both local and international researchers, she attributes her strong citation metrics to focusing on timely, relevant topics and the support of dedicated research partners. Reflecting on her journey, she acknowledged that publishing in high-impact journals posed challenges, but constructive reviewer feedback and consistent support from UTAR played a pivotal role in her academic development.
On the other hand, Dr Leong, whose research areas include business information systems, mobile applications and services, technology adoption, e-commerce, digital marketing, and consumer behaviour, shared a similar sense of gratitude. “I am truly honoured and grateful, as this recognition reflects the dedication and time invested in my research. I sincerely thank everyone who has been a part of this journey with me,” she said.
Her research work, noted for its novelty, strong methodological approach, and practical contributions, has attracted academic interest both locally and globally. Despite facing challenges such as limited funding and rigorous peer review processes, Dr Leong has remained proactive in seeking research grants and collaborative opportunities. “These efforts have improved the overall quality and impact of my research and helped me grow as a more resilient scholar,” she added.
Both researchers acknowledged the instrumental role that UTAR has played in supporting their research endeavours. Prof Lee credited the university’s provision of research funding, academic resources, and access to knowledge-sharing platforms such as talks and workshops as vital enablers. Similarly, Dr Leong highlighted the value of UTARRF grants, and access to essential software, as key components that allowed her to pursue impactful research outcomes.
UTAR ranked 5th in Malaysia for Business and Management
In conjunction with this recognition, UTAR was also ranked 5th among the “Best Business and Management Universities in Malaysia 2025” by Research.com. Both Prof Lee and Dr Leong expressed their pride in the university’s achievement.
Prof Lee remarked, “This recognition reflects the collective effort of our university, faculty, staff, and students. It’s encouraging and reminds us to keep doing our best in providing quality education and contributing meaningful research.”
Dr Leong echoed this sentiment, adding, “It is a strong testament to the university’s continuous efforts and strategic direction in improving its university ranking in research. This achievement is the result of the cooperation, support, and dedication of the entire UTAR community.”
Looking ahead, both academics are optimistic about UTAR’s role in shaping the future of business and management education and research. Prof Lee noted that UTAR continues to contribute to knowledge development by connecting theory with practice and engaging in research that addresses current and emerging business issues. Through local and international collaborations, the university fosters a culture of academic engagement and real-world application.
