UTAR receives full accreditation and Seoul Accord recognition for seven of its computing and information technology programmes.
These are the accredited and recognised programmes:
The Seoul Accord is a multi-lateral agreement among agencies responsible for accreditation or recognition of tertiary-level computing and IT-related qualifications. It is non-governmental and is not affiliated with any country. It was established in December 2008, with the vision to become recognised internationally as a leader in defining and promulgating standards and guidelines for the academic preparation of computing professionals. Its purpose is contributing to the improvement of computing education worldwide through the mutual recognition of accredited academic computing programmes that prepare graduates for professional practice.
The seven ICT programmes are also accredited by the Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT). MBOT is one of the Full Signatory of the Seoul Accord. Through its status as a Full Signatory of the Seoul Accord, degree programmes, especially in three (3) fields accredited by MBOT, namely Information and Communication Technology, Cyber Security Technology, and Creative Art and Multimedia Technology, are equivalent to the international standards set by the Seoul Accord. The Seoul Accord accreditation will improve the prospects and careers of graduates, both locally and internationally, as their qualifications will be internationally recognised.
