All the winning teams of the tournament
It was a display of prowess as teams gave their best to secure the championship at the UTAR Table Tennis Tournament (UTTT) 2025, held from 26 to 27 April 2025, at UTAR Kampar Campus. The national-level tournament gathered 30 teams from across the country and witnessed intense competition, exemplary sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the players.
Organised and hosted by UTAR, the tournament adopted the Olympic format, with each team consisting of three to four players. The format dictates that a team match comprised up to five individual matches – one doubles and four singles, and the match concluded when a team secured three wins. The order of play began with a doubles match, followed by two singles. If neither team secured three wins, after the first three matches, two additional singles were played. UTAR was represented by three Kampar Campus teams and two from the Sungai Long Campus.

The UTAR Red team delivered an impressive performance and secured joint third place. Present at the prize-giving ceremony were UTAR Vice President for Student Development and Alumni Relations Prof Dr Choong Chee Keong, Department of Student Affairs Kampar Campus Head Mr Chiang Jeng Fong, and organising committee. The tournament was supported by HIGHLIGHT Table Tennis Centre, and sponsored by Dong Tai Kopitiam and Tayo Machinery (M) Sdn Bhd.
UTAR Red team enthused, “It was exciting to compete with teams from other states. We established friendships and strengthened our sportsmanship. The tournament was also an opportune platform for us to learn from one another as well— techniques, methods, and strategies used. All in all, it was a good experience, and it reminded us once again of the importance of teamwork and hard work.”
Tournament coordinator and UTAR Table Tennis Team officer-in-charge, Ms Goh Man Hua, highlighted that the event marked a significant milestone for the UTAR Table Tennis Team. She noted that the tournament not only reinforced UTAR’s presence in the national table tennis scene but also fostered stronger connections with the wider table tennis community across Malaysia. Teams from Perak, Kedah, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Melaka reflected the tournament’s broad regional appeal. In addition to promoting inter-university engagement, the tournament offered UTAR players valuable match experience, helping them assess their performance and prepare for upcoming competitions, including MASISWA.
