Teleperformance Book Prize Award empowers THP FBF students

The Teleperformance Book Prize Award Ceremony 2025, held on 15 April 2025, was more than a celebration of student achievement; it marked an important investment in the future of Malaysia’s talent.

Organised by Teleperformance Malaysia in collaboration with UTAR Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF), the award serves as a testament to the power of industry-academia partnerships in supporting student excellence and shaping future leaders.

Since establishing its operations in Malaysia in 2017, Teleperformance has been a prominent name in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, known not only for its service excellence but also for its commitment to community impact. The Book Prize Award highlights this commitment by honouring high-achieving students who exemplify academic excellence, leadership, and personal growth.

This year’s recipients, Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) students Chan Yee Mei and Looi Jia Ee, were presented with custom-designed trophies and cash prizes for their outstanding achievements. Their success highlights the calibre of talent nurtured at UTAR and reflects the importance of continuous support and encouragement from both academia and industry.

Reflecting on her academic path, Looi shared, “I have always been passionate about understanding how businesses operate and how strategic decisions impact growth, which inspired me to pursue studies in this field. My academic journey at UTAR has been enriching and transformative, filled with supportive lecturers, challenging coursework, and opportunities to grow beyond the classroom. Receiving the Teleperformance Book Prize Award is a great honour and a reminder that hard work and dedication do pay off. Personally, it boosts my confidence and motivates me to continue striving for excellence. Academically, it reinforces my commitment to learning and achieving even greater heights. This recognition has inspired me to pursue further studies or a professional role where I can make a meaningful impact.”

Chan highlighted the value of industry-academic collaboration and said, “The UTAR–Teleperformance collaboration is a meaningful step in connecting students with the industry. I believe more partnerships like this can enrich student learning and career readiness. One tough moment for me was juggling multiple assignments at once. I got through it by staying organised, starting early, and leaning on teamwork to share the load.”

Gracing the award ceremony were Dean of THP FBF Assoc Prof Dr Au Yong Hui Nee, Deputy Dean of Student Development and Industrial Training Dr Kuah Yoke Chin, Deputy Dean of Academic Development and Undergraduate Programmes Dr Peter Tan Sin Howe, and the heads of department from THP FBF. Their presence signified the university’s dedication to cultivating a strong academic foundation and preparing students for meaningful careers.

Adding to the significance of the event, key representatives from Teleperformance, including Senior Operations Manager Mr Ted Tang, Operations Assistant Manager Ms Zi Eng Loh, Operations Supervisor Ms Zheng Ting Hew and Talent Strategy Partner Mr Anilraj Gobiraj, attended the ceremony to personally congratulate the winners. Their support reaffirmed the company’s belief in nurturing the next generation and investing in talent that will drive innovation and transformation in the years ahead.

The Book Prize Award is not merely a prize, but a symbol of recognition, encouragement, and opportunity. It represents a shared vision between Teleperformance and UTAR to empower students to reach their full potential and become future-ready professionals who contribute meaningfully to society.
