Unlike a project-based competition, this award serves as a prestigious recognition of consistent academic performance throughout a student’s degree. Mr Teong was nominated for and received the award in acknowledgment of his remarkable feat of attaining the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours programme, from which he graduated in October 2024.

Upon receiving the award, Mr Teong shared his thoughts and gratitude. “I was nominated for this award not through a competition, but in recognition of my consistent academic performance throughout my degree,” he said. “I’ve always believed that engineering is not just about solving equations, but about learning how to think critically and create effective solutions. Receiving this award is an incredible honour; it reflects the effort, perseverance, and support I’ve received from my lecturers, friends, and family. It’s also a reminder that hard work and passion in learning can truly make a difference.”

He elaborated on the significance of his achievement, stating, “My achievement was based on attaining the highest CGPA in the Bachelor of Civil Engineering programme, reflecting consistent effort and dedication across all subjects—from structural design to project management. This award represents the culmination of years of hard work, teamwork, and a genuine passion for engineering.”

As for his future aspirations, Mr Teong added, “This recognition motivates me to continue growing as an engineer who not only excels academically but also contributes positively to the construction industry and society.”

For his outstanding accomplishment, Mr Teong received a certificate, a trophy, and a letter of congratulations from the CIOB.
