UTAR continues to make its mark on the global research stage, with a total of 26 researchers (including 6 Adjunct Professors) recognised in the Stanford University’s World Top 2% Scientists list. Notably, 12 of them were ranked in the Top 1%. The recognition spans two categories, namely single-year impact and career-long impact, with some researchers being acknowledged in both categories. This prestigious recognition highlights the University’s commitment to producing high-quality, impactful research that advances knowledge and benefits society, reinforcing UTAR’s position among the world’s leading academic institutions.
Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientists list is a prestigious ranking that highlights influential researchers across a broad range of scientific fields. Compiled in collaboration with Elsevier and based on data from Scopus, the list serves as a powerful tool for identifying global scientific leaders who have made a significant impact on their respective fields.
It draws on a variety of citation metrics, such as the h-index, co-authorship, and adjusted citation counts, to ensure a fair and balanced representation of researchers. The list is updated annually, with both career-long data and single-year impacts for transparency and current relevance. Being listed among the top 2% of scientists is a prestigious recognition of a researcher’s contribution to science and research excellence. The 2025 update is based on data indexed by Scopus as of 1 August 2025, covering citations up to the end of 2024.
