Inaugural Career Fair Yields Great Impact

Thousands of graduating students thronged the inaugural career fair held at UTAR Perak Campus from 24-25 November 2010.

The career fair was launched by UTAR President Ir. Prof. Dato' Dr. Chuah Hean Teik, Ipoh Timur MCA Division Chief Dato' Thong Fah Chong who represented Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Malaysia Dato' Lee Chee Leong, and UTAR Council Chairman Tun Dr. Ling Liong Sik.

For the upcoming UTAR 12 th Convocation in March 2011, it is estimated another 2,500 students will be graduating and of this figure, around 1,200 graduates were from Perak Campus. Over 55% of graduating students obtained jobs before they sat for the final exam and 97% of them were employed six months after graduating. This proves that UTAR graduates are well-accepted by the industries," he added.

During the ceremony, Prof. Chuah presented certificates of appreciation to participating companies. A total of 54 companies and professional bodies from various industries participated in the fair. Among them were OCBC Bank ( Malaysia ) Berhad, ACCA Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Genting Malaysia Berhad, Poh Kong Holdings Berhad, KPMG, Silverlake System Sdn Bhd, Carsem (M) Sdn Bhd, and Accenture Solutions Sdn Bhd.
