The pool of scholarships for students to study at Universiti Tunku Abdul
Rahman (UTAR) expands further with the contribution of one million ringgit
from the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) for the setting up of the Datuk
Sim Mow Yu - UTAR Scholarship Fund - a scholarship fund to provide
scholarships to eligible Malaysians to pursue the Bachelor of Arts (Hons)
Chinese Studies at the University.
The Scholarship Fund was set up in honour of the late Datuk Sim Mow Yu for
his contributions to the education arena of Malaysia .
UTAR President Ir. Prof. Dato' Dr. Chuah Hean Teik received the donation
from MCA President Dato' Sri Ong Tee Keat at a cheque presentation ceremony
held at Wisma MCA, Kuala Lumpur recently.
In addition to this scholarship fund, UTAR also offers other internal
scholarships for students to study at the University in various fields. As
at 31 December 2009, the University has disbursed over RM 19 million worth
of scholarships to over 2,500 students.
