On 12 December 2011, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and Josai
University Educational Corporation (JUEC), Japan, concluded signing an
agreement to collaborate on academic development.
At a ceremony, UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean Teik
signed the agreement which had been signed by JUEC Chancellor Noriko Mizuta.
The document was brought along by JUEC Director and Executive Board Member
Katsuhiko Namikawa.
Also present to witness the signing were, JUEC Pharmaceutical Sciences Dean
Professor Kenji Sugibayashi, Japan-Malaysia Association Director Tetsuhiko
Arakane, Eitoshin Shoji Co Ltd Chief Executive Officer and interpreter Tam
Yun Tong, and Tourism Ministry Press Secretary Dr Hajjah Yulduz Emiloglu,
and from UTAR were the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology Dean Ir
Chan Cheong Loong, the Faculty of Arts and Social Science Dean Dr Sebastian
K Francis, and the Faculty of Science Dean Dr Lim Tuck Meng.
Under the agreement, UTAR and JUEC would initiate joint teaching and
learning activities in the areas of Tourism, Environment, and Pharmaceutical
and Health Sciences, and to facilitate staff and student exchanges.
"International collaboration will help students expand their human network
and develop a broad-minded international outlook which will contribute to
their self-development and future success. I hope students of both
universities will take this opportunity to build up their human network,"
said Professor Chuah, emphasising the positive impacts the partnership would
bring.
JUEC operates three affiliated institutions which are Josai University,
Josai Base College and Josai International University. The two universities
comprise twelve faculties and fifteen departments, offering a wide range of
specializations such as International Humanities, Economics, Management,
Information Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Media Studies, Tourism, and
Social an Environment Studies.
