Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) signed a memorandum of understanding
(MoU) with Yongjiang University at UTAR Kuala Lumpur Campus in Setapak on 9
June 2012.
The
MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir. Professor Academician Dato' Dr. Chuah
Hean Teik and Yongjiang University's President Professor Lai Mei. UTAR
Vice-President (Internationalisation and Academic Development) Professor Dr.
Ewe Hong Tat and Yongjiang University's Vice-President Professor Wen Xuguang
signed as witnesses.
The
MoU was signed after a brief discussion between the delegation from
Yongjiang University and UTAR senior officials during the delegation's visit
to UTAR. Members of the delegation from
Yongjiang University were Professor Lai Mei, President; Professor Wen
Xuguang, Vice-President; Chen Tie, Dean of Student Affairs Department;
Associate Professor Li Dan, Deputy-Dean of Teaching Affairs Department;
Associate Professor Li Qingnian, Deputy-Dean of Information Engineering
Institute; and Associate Professor Lu Feng, Deputy-Dean of Engineering
Institute.
Also
present at the discussion and the signing of the MoU were Associate
Professor Dr. Choong Chee Keong, Dean, UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance;
Associate Professor Dr. Goi Bok Min, Acting Dean, UTAR Faculty of
Engineering and Science, deputy deans and senior academics from both the
UTAR faculties, and Dr. Tan Sin Leng, Director, UTAR Division of Community &
International Networking.
With
the understanding, UTAR will work together with Yongjiang University to
explore areas for cooperation involving joint development of research,
academic development exchanges, and staff and student exchange.
The delegates from Yongjiang University also toured UTAR Kuala Lumpur campus during their visit. They visited not only the science labs and engineering workshops of the campus but also the main site of the university's solar research project.
