UTAR and Griffith University ink MoU

UTAR and Griffith University, a leading university in Queensland, Australia, signed a memorandum of understanding with a focus on Engineering and Environment areas of Advanced Materials in a simple ceremony held at a renowned hotel in Kuala Lumpur on 11 June 2012.

The MoU was signed by UTAR President Ir. Professor Academician Dato' Dr. Chuah Hean Teak and his counterpart from Griffith University Professor Ian O' Connor.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by UTAR Vice President (Internationalisation and Academic Development) Professor Dr. Ewe Hong Tat and UTAR Director of Community and International Networking Associate Professor Dr. Tan Sin Leng.   Also present to witness the signing were Professor Loo Yew-Chaye, Foundation Chair of Civil Engineering and Director of Internationalisation and Professional Liasion; Lecturer Dr. Faisal Mohd-Yasin and Lucinda Chappell, Regional Director (South East Asia), all from Griffith University.

The MoU generally covers the areas of faculty exchange, student exchange, publication exchange, cooperation in training projects, articulation arrangements, joint organisation of seminars, conferences and workshops, joint funding applications, and cooperation on delivering award and non-award course.  In particular, the parties will focus on the Engineering and Environment areas of Advanced Materials, and Environment and Health Safety Monitoring.

Griffith University has been one of Australia's most innovative tertiary institutions and one of the most influential universities in the Asia-Pacific region since its inception.  It is the ninth largest higher education provider in Australian catering to more than 43,000 students from 131 countries with its 300 degrees across five campuses.  It is also the first university in Australia to offer degrees in Asian studies and Environmental studies.
