Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and the Selangor Freight Forwarders and
Logistics Association (SFFLA) renewed their memorandum of understanding
(MoU) at Wisma SFFLA on 27 February 2013.
The
original MoU was signed on 20 August 2009 also at Wisma SFFLA. The
renewal was signed by UTAR President Ir Prof Academician Dato' Dr Chuah Hean
Teik and his counterpart SFFLA President Alvin Chua Seng Wah, who is also
Federation of Malaysia Freight Forwarders (FMFF) president.
FMFF,
registered in 1987, is a federation of state-level associations including
SFFLA. FMFF was also signing another MoU with three other educational
institutions at the ceremony.
The
MoU was signed to strengthen the ties between UTAR and SFFLA to collaborate
in the areas of offering joint educational and training programmes in
freight forwarding and logistics, to facilitate academic and training
development exchanges, and other academia-industry collaborative activities
such as SFFLA members offering internship and job placements to UTAR
students through career talks and fairs in UTAR. After the signing of
the MoU, the partners had been jointly offering courses in Freight
Forwarding in Multimodal Transport at UTAR Centre for Extension Education.
"With
the renewal of the MoU today, I am certain that the partnership between UTAR
and SFFLA will continue with a stronger footing," said Prof Chuah, adding
that he was certain that there would be many more collaborative activities
between the partners.
"I
wish to convey my sincere appreciation to all the tertiary institutions that
have shared our vision and have come forward to jointly work with us to
pursue and achieve our shared objectives; which primary objective should be,
to benefit the logistics industry," said Chua, thanking the MoU partners.
Present as guest-of-honour at the ceremony was Tuan Haji Abi Sofian Bin
Abdul Hamid, CEO of North Port (Malaysia) Berhad.
