"Willkommen, Herr Professor Dr. Schreiner!" UTAR welcomed Prof Dr
Rupert Schreiner from the Regensburg University of Applied Sciences (RUAS),
Germany, when he visited its Perak Campus on 22 February 2013.
On hand to welcome Prof Schreiner was UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Green
Technology (FEGT) Dean Dr Yap Vooi Voon and other faculty staff.
They had a discussion which centred on the proposal to offer a joint Master
of Electrical and Microsystems Engineering. Dr Yap said RUAS had come
up with the preliminary outline of the postgraduate programme and further
discussions were necessary before it would be offered.
Prof Schreiner also met with four FEGT Electronic Engineering students,
Edmund Leong Wen Jen, Ong Swee Seong, Pragash Mayar Krishnan and Sim Kar
Yen, who undertook a six-month industrial attachment at RUAS from June to
December last year. He provided advice to the students and presented
them with certificates for their successful completion of the industrial
attachment in Germany.
Also known as Hochscule Regensburg, RUAS is one of the largest universities
in the state of Bavaria in Germany. RUAS and UTAR have signed a
memorandum of understanding of collaboration and the intended joint
postgraduate programme and industrial attachment of students are part of the
collaborative activities of the two partner universities. Prof
Schreiner chairs the Examiners Board of RUAS.
