UTAR Faculty of Engineering and Science (FES) had organised the 3rd International Conference on Smart Grid and Clean Energy Technologies (ICSGCE 2013) which was held at the Setapak Campus, Kuala Lumpur from 11 -12 October, 2013.

Associate Professor Lim Yun Seng from the Department of Physical Science, FES was one of the keynote speakers. He had contributed the topic on "Active Energy Management System for LVDNs Integrated with renewable Energy Sources." The other topics presented were "Advanced Computational Methods for Real-Time Operation of Smart Grids", "Condition Monitoring and Asset management in Smart Grid" and "Smart Transmission Grid Challenges."

The Conference focused on new and innovative integration and deployment of smart grid and clean energy technologies that would benefit society in terms of lower energy cost and reduction of greenhouse effect. It had attracted participants and academicians from UK, USA, Australia, Norway, UAE, China and Europe.

In addition to bringing together the academia, industry, engineering and corporations to exchange ideas and share experiences, ICSGCE 2013 provided an opportunity to address potential problems and to understand the significant challenges in the integration and deployment of new technologies.
