Two
Japanese sister universities, Josai University and Josai International
University, worked with their partner Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)
and sent 70 of their students to have an English Language immersion
programme here in Malaysia from 5 to 19 September 2013.

Led by
three lecturers, the Japanese students arrived at Kuala Lumpur International
Airport on Thursday, 5 September evening. As the group was also on an
'edu-tourism' programme promoted by the Ministry of Tourism, Malaysia, the
following day they were invited to meet with Tourism Board Chairman and
former Tourism Minister Dato' Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen at Putrajaya before they
travelled to Kampar, where their two-week English immersion programme
started on Monday, 9 September at UTAR Perak Campus.
The
weekend before their English classes started, they were coached to Cameron
Highlands after breakfast in Kampar. They did some shopping, visited the
night market and put up a night there. The following day they visited
the Boh Tea Centre.
Over
the following weekend, they visited the theme park Lost World in Tambun,
shopped in Ipoh city, and tasted the famous local delicacy freshwater prawns
in Tanjung Tualang.

The
English immersion programme is also an edu-tourism programme which is a
collaboration project between UTAR and its partner Josai universities. This
programme is one of the many internationalisation efforts implemented by
UTAR.
