Prof Dr Tan Ngee Tiong from International Business School of Yunnan
University of Finance and Economics (YUFE), Kunming, China visited UTAR
Petaling Jaya Campus on 26 February 2014. The main objective of the visit
was to discuss and explore the possibility of mutual co-operation between
the two universities.
On hand to welcome him from UTAR were Vice President (Internationalisation
and Academic Development) Prof Dr Ewe Hong Tat, Faculty of Accountancy and
Management Dean Dr Ong Seng Fook, Department of International Business Head
Alexander Tay Guan Meng, Division of Programme Promotion Director Alex Lee
Choy Fong and UTAR support staff.
After a brief introduction on YUFE and the International Business School,

universities in the ASEAN region. As a Malaysian, Prof Tan has been tasked
to search for potential partners in Malaysia. He was keen to know more
UTAR's course fees, programme recognition, accommodation, food and other
related topics.
In looking forward to collaborative possibilities with YUFE in areas such as
student exchange, staff exchange and joint research, Prof Ewe said, "UTAR
programmes are recognised by China. We provide training to selected staff of
the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), China and
conduct English Enhancement Programme to foreign students too."
Both parties looked forward to achieving a formalised partnership such as
