UTARambassadors born!

For the first time, UTAR officially appointed its student ambassadors in 2014 at UTAR Perak Campus.

Known as the UTARambassadors, the three pioneer student spokespersons Bey Bun Kiat, Seow Wen Soon and Lock Tze Wei received their appointment letters from UTAR Vice President (Student Development & Alumni Relations) Assoc Prof Dr Teh Chee Seng.

Congratulating the trio on their appointment by the University, Dr Teh mentioned that the UTARambassadors were selected based on their academic merits, interpersonal skills as well as maturity in answering questions during the selection interview. "It will be an exciting year as you begin your duties as the spoke-persons for the University. I wish you all the best," he said.

When asked about their thoughts on being appointed as UTARambassadors, the trio shared the same sentiment that they were surprised but honoured. "This is indeed a beautiful surprise and I am happy to take on this responsibility." said Seow, a Year One Trimester Three Business Administration degree student.

"I think it was our confidence that made us stood out from the rest," added Bey, a first year Public Relations student. First year Electronic Engineering student Lock said he is proud to be the pioneer UTARambassador to kickstart the various projects and also set an example for future UTARambassadors.

This UTARambassador is a group of selected students who are appointed as ambassadors for the University. The UTARambassadors are trained and assigned to fulfill several tasks that aim to promote the University to visitors and the community during University Open Days and events. Their duties include facilitating campus tours and arranging interactive activities for the tours, sharing their learning experiences and their transition to university life with visitors, students and parents, assisting in UTAR Open Days, course previews, education exhibitions and so on.

The UTARambassador will receive a certificate and soft skills points including waiver of fees for selected courses conducted by UTAR Department of Soft Skills Competency.
